The miracle diet!!!
So I have to write about an awesome supplement I found for the Boo-meister. Its called Missing Link and it is the best thing ever! It helps maintain a healthy skin and coat and aids in the digestion process. It has omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and it is suppose to taste great to them. I have been putting about 1/4th of a teaspoon on her food and I don't even think she breathes she is eating so fast. The good thing is I don't have to put other things on her food that arent as good for her anymore. Halelujah!!
So we were in Wichita this weekend for KD's birthday. We stayed with her parents and that is always a time of anxiety for me because Betsy has such a hard time being good there. She likes to poo on the carpet and she gets really distracted during meal times because of all the commotion. So I was surprised when she was the perfect pup this weekend. She age when we wanted her to and she didn't have a single accident all weekend. Sometimes she never ceases to amaze me!

Workin off the pounds
So Today Betsy-boo and momma went for a walk around the governors mansion. They have some really nice trails that go through the woods and around the actual grounds of the mansion, Cedar Crest. It was about a 3 mile walk and Betsy loved it. There were alot of other dogs out since it was so nice. She loves to get her sniff on you know! So once they got home Betsy crashed hard. She slept for hours(which is not a surprise since she does that all day anyway) Its funny though because Chihuahuas are not known for liking walks, but she loves them. When we get out her leash and ask her if she wants to go for a walk, she goes crazy! I guess its good to never stereotype breeds. Later!

The days diet
For about a week now her royal cuteness has demanded her food to be served warm! Today was no exception. This mornings meal consisted of her fav chihuahua food (Royal canin Chihuahua formula-gotta give it another plug!!) a splash of high quality H2O and a dash of fat free skim mozzarella cheese. Now I know cheese is not the best but the vet said if we do it in moderation and it helps with the appetite then it's ok. Besides, in a few more days she will be sick of it and we have to move on to another additive. What will it be next? Chicken with sweet potatoes? all beef kosher hot dogs maybe? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
For the rest of the day we slept and tried to play a little outside but the weather was crappy. It was in the 70's yesterday and now its snowing!!! Gotta love Kansas!! Peace out!

A little Background
My wife and I have had Betsy for about a year and a half. We adopted her from a couple in Wichita who had been unsuccessful for weeks at selling Betsy and her brothers and sisters. From the beginning we knew that chihuahua's are notoriously picky when it came to eating. At first we tried different foods to see if she liked any particular one better than the rest. Once we found a food she liked (Royal Canin Chihuahua Formula!!) we found that we still were having trouble getting her to eat. So we went to our vet and began gathering information about how to entice her appetite.
Welcome all you proud chihuahua owners!!
Hello and welcome to The Picky Chihuahua! I'm writing this blog for all those people who fight the daily fight to get their picky chihuahua to eat. My wife and I struggle on a daily basis to think of new and innovative ways to entice the appetite of our pup, Betsy. Some recipes have succeeded and become part of our repertoire, others have failed miserably. From cheese and chicken broth to frozen dinners and treats, we have assembled a wide variety of recipes to tempt the palate of our canine diva. My hope is that this blog will be a place where chihuahua lovers everywhere can share and learn more about this lovable, albeit difficult breed. Cheers!!
